Romo pointed to a data problem: text and code are abundant online, but the specialized information needed for hardware design is not. He said someone looking for the best turbo pump seal designs, for example, will not find that kind of knowledge readily available on the internet.

Why the hiring push matters

Impulse has moved beyond propulsion alone and now needs more expertise in vehicle structures and flight computers. Romo also said the company opened an office in Colorado because aerospace talent has more options now across multiple U.S. hubs, not just Los Angeles.

The company’s next milestone is another Mira launch before the end of the year. Its last flight in late 2025 was imperfect: a navigation problem caused it to burn through much of its propellant early.
